Box 23 is located in Schuylkill Haven, PA. The company is named for Box 23 which was located at the intersection of East Union Street and Pleasant Row in Schuylkill Haven. This was the “home box” for the Schuylkill Hose Company and could be seen from the engine room.
Box 23 was started when I was cleaning and scraping Box 23 to display in my garage office. I went to the shelf to get a different tool and found an old helmet front. As I was looking at it, I decided that I should find a way to display it instead of it gathering dust on the shelf. After my wife telling me it
looked like a bird house, I re-proportioned the design to better match the original box and the front shield.
I am currently working on designing a Maltese cross for display as an address plaque. The Star of Life and Oak alarm boxes and plaques.
